Training in ASL is provided to aspiring interpreters from First Pentecostal Church as well as being open to churches throughout our area regardless of denomination. In effect, this is a special outreach program serving those who wish to minister to the deaf in their own language.
Marietta Patchin, the Deaf Ministry Coordinator, is also the United Pentecostal Church International Deaf Ministry Coordinator for the southeastern region of the United States. Subsequently, First Pentecostal Church acts as the host for several deaf conferences each year including the UPCI National Conference. These conferences are religious, social and training events for a very large part of the deaf population.
